Team Spotlight: Amanda Hall

Role: Insurance Specialist

Brief summary of experience: I received my degree in Medical Office Administration in 2017 and began working in optometry in 2019. I have direct practice experience in reception, pre-testing, billing, and vision and health insurance filing. I started working with OMS in 2023 as an insurance specialist.

How do you help practices each and every day: I provide support for my clients daily. We communicate about any questions they may have regarding claims or insurance.

What do you love most about your job: What I love about my job is how satisfying it is to find and fix problems. Insurance claims can sometimes feel like a complicated puzzle, but figuring out where all the pieces go and getting answers, and payment, for my clients, it is a great feeling.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve seen practices face in the last year and how do you help solve them: The amount of turnover in a practice can be challenging. If each employee isn’t properly trained on how to get the correct information from a patient it can be troublesome and cause delays in receiving insurance payments.

What’s a memorable team moment or success you’ve been part of: The OMS team is very close knit and always ready to provide support for each other and our partners.

What’s something unique about the way you approach your work: I consider myself to be an extension of each of our clients and am there for the overall betterment of each of them.

Is there any piece of advice you consistently give practices: Make sure you are getting correct patient demographic information. It may seem like a small thing but it really makes a huge difference! Claims will be denied if all information does not match correctly. It is a very simple way to ensure you are getting paid timely.

In your opinion, what sets OMS apart from others in the industry: The way our team truly cares for our clients. We want what is best for them and will do any and everything we can to help.

What’s one thing on your bucket list you’re excited to check off: My family and I are huge Disney fans. The only thing I have on my bucket list is to visit all of the Disney parks in the world. I don’t know if it will ever be accomplished, but I’m going to try!
