Brief summary of experience: With over 20 years of experience in optometry and ophthalmology, I have gained extensive knowledge and skills in every aspect of practice management and patient care—except for the role of the doctor. My diverse background in the practice has given me firsthand insight into the challenges of practice management. This experience has equipped me to effectively support and coach in all aspects of running a successful business, always with a focus on prioritizing the patient experience.
How do you help practices each and every day: I dedicate my days to analyzing medical records, data, and processes to equip practices with vital information and training that enhance compliance, boost revenue, and streamline daily operations.
What do you love most about your job: My coworkers and clients.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve seen practices face in the last year and how do you help solve them: Inefficient workflow processes that affect cash flow, accounts receivable management, and documentation compliance related to E&M codes. Additionally, having the time and resources to continually train your team and measure the performance of your billing workflow can be a bottleneck and I love being the resource to help practices overcome that challenge.
What’s a memorable team moment or success you’ve been part of: Working alongside the OMS team to find “money” in the accounts receivable that was overlooked as well as helping doctors understand the code required documentation to withstand an audit and protect their license.
What’s something unique about the way you approach your work: I recognize that while many aspects of our industry are standard, each practice is unique. I tailor my contributions to each practice based on the individual needs of every client.
Is there any piece of advice you consistently give practices: Every team member is essential to the practice’s success and patient care. I often ask, “Do you have the right person in the right role?”
In your opinion, what sets OMS apart from others in the industry: Our approach focuses on meeting clients where they are, fostering a genuine partnership for success, and tailoring our services to their specific needs. We are not cookie cutter!
What’s one thing on your bucket list you’re excited to check off: Going on a mission trip! Since I went to Guatemala I can not wait to be a part of another mission to help spread the word of faith in Christ and to assist in any way I can to those in need.
